Porukara Basketball Tournament

Porukara Basketball Tournament was restarted after a big break on 18th October 2023. Eudrick Pereira, inaugurated the function and Smt Jalajakumari, the President Champakulam Grama Panchayat, presided the function. GMVHSS Kunnamkulam was the Boy's winner and SDV Girls School Alappuzha was the Girls winner. G Sureshkumar, CI of Police Nedumudy handover the trophies to the winners.

Porukara Academy

The co-curricular activities, which commenced under the name "Porukara Academy" hold an objective of nurturing the children to demonstrate their skills beyond the academic. We have different clubs including ‘Football club’, ‘Music club’, ‘Dance Club’ and ‘Basketball club' under the guidance of experienced faculties.

Remedial Classes

We would like to assist the students in the areas where they need additional help keeping this in view we practise different types of methods to achieve the goal. As a whole is really a help for the struggling learner to achieve success. Students are divided into different sections. Ample practices are given to enhance reading skills for Std I-IV, to enrich the grammar from Std V-VII, special grammar classes are arranged. A basicMaths and Science class for Std VIII to IX have also been started.

Stars' Day - 2023

The event, held on December 12, 2023, began at 9:30 am in the school’s auditorium. Fr. Scaria Ethiretu CMI, Principal Placid Vidya Vihar, Changanacherry, inaugurated the function. This special day recognized and awarded students for their outstanding academic achievements across various exams—PT1, PT2, and half-yearly examinations. We had a unique recognition system where students received Ruby, Gold, Silver, and Emerald stars based on their remarkable performances.

Ruby stars were awarded to students scoring between 96 to 100%. Gold stars were given to those achieving between 90 to 95%. Silver stars shone bright for performers between 86 to 90%. Emerald stars adorned the achievements of students scoring between 80 to 85%.We also celebrated division-wise toppers and awarded them with mementos, acknowledging their exceptional efforts throughout the academic year.

Socially Responsible Porukaraites

Porukara is not only caters the students for excellence in academics, but also their overall excellence in academics, individuality and sociality. A Marathon was conducted by the students against drug abuse on Anti-drug day. Flash mobs were conducted in connection with ‘Road safety and traffic rules’. Through these activities students are made aware of their social responsibilities.

"OruPidiNanma” & Porukara Charity Drive

Inorder to inculcate selfless helping mentality for the under privileged, Porukara started "OruPidiNanma". Every first Monday of each month students bring pulses, cereals, stationary items etc from their home to be given to 14 families of 'Veeyapuram Panchayat. We have adopted the families and now it's the responsibility of the Porukaraites to see that their needs are satisfied.

Porukarites celebrated 77th Independence Day on 15th August 2023 with a flag hoisting by District Panchayat President, Smt. Binu Issac followed by the felicitations from Rev. Fr Subin Kottoor CMI, the Principal and Sri. George M K, PTA President.

“No one has ever become poor from giving.” It was a ‘Dream Drive’ie, Porukara Charity Drive which took on its wheel at 10 o'clock on 15th August 2023. A follow up of "OruPidiNanma' took its rebirth as Porukara Charity Drive was a memorable event to make the children to understand the values of 'help', 'kindness', 'service', 'mutual love and compassion'. A group of teachers, students and non-teaching staff skated to 10 different Orphanages in Alappuzha and Changanacherry. The inmates were extremely happy and their pleasant faces gave us a feedback of relief and satisfaction.

In connection with Christmas, Porukara Charity Drive took another venture to adopt 3 more families from Veyapuram Panchayath & Champakulam Panchayath.

Christmas coin box collection started from 1st December to help the people in Punnapra Orphanage.

Relief Camp

Porukara is always there to give a helping hand to the society. During the floods Porukara became relief camp for the people affected by flood in the Champakulam Panchayat. "Initiative is doing the right thing without being told". Here also Porukara came with an

“Initiative is doing the right thing without being told.” Here also Porukara came with an initiative “Mosquito Repellant” by keeping and reminding the values of social commitment and human kindness. The product was purely sink with organic liquids and medicinal plants. This venture was benefitted by 150 families along with the preparationand procedures.

Onam Kit

Happiness is only increased by sharing. Onam kit is the signature sharing and inevitable factor for every Malayalees. As usual Porukara also enriched the magnitude of sharing 40 families and being the part of Onam festival.
